Beatriz Collazo

Bettie Collazo has worked representing survivors of domestic, sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking and currently serves as Legal Director of Nuevo Sendero. Bettie attended Florida A&M University College of Law. After receiving her law degree, Bettie worked at the Florida Department of Health in Polk County and served as a certified Guardian Ad Litem volunteer. She later joined Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida (CLSMF) at their newly launched Helpline, assisting low-income, elderly, and other vulnerable populations on a range of issues, including; housing, consumer, public benefits, and family law. Bettie subsequently began working exclusively with survivors of intimate partner, domestic, dating, stalking, and sexual violence. In 2020, Bettie went to work on the Statewide Domestic Violence Hotline, assisting survivors of intimate partner violence. In 2022, Bettie renewed her Victim Services Provider Designation from the Office of the Attorney General, which trained her specifically to work with victims of crime, including domestic and sexual violence. Bettie is an active member of the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar, where she sits in the Domestic Violence, Diversity and Inclusion, Children’s Issues, Health and Wellness, and the Publications Committee. Bettie is a member of the Florida Bar and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
